Precious moment #1
Although Luke has had several precious moments prior to this time, I wasn't blogging. So I start a new tradition.
I think you should know that I am a former member of MENSA, the high IQ society. I have an IQ that ranges around 132-135. This increases my expectations for my son. But in no way do I believe he is a genius! Not yet anyway.
Yesterday, my own son surprised me. He got a hold of my keys and left them somewhere. We have been working on his understanding. We tell him to do something like, "Bring me the bowl!" Then we sit back and watch what he does. Lately, we have been impressed with his ability to comprehend requests to put his toys away or to bring us a blanket for his bottle.
But he had misplaced my keys about 10 minutes earlier. So I said, "Luke, go get my keys." After two or three requests he dutifully marched off to his bedroom and came back a few seconds later with his stuffed MONKEY! I laughed and so did my wife. We thought it was just a mistake. But then we asked for him to bring me the CAR KEYS. Lo and behold, he did! He went back to his room and brought out my keys. I couldn't stop laughing because it was so cute!
When we talked about it, we began to think that maybe he "my keys" was "monkey." I know that sounds hard to believe, but he hardly ever plays with that monkey and we never talk about it with him. So I don't know. All I do know is that it was very cute!
